COVER reaches settlement over rights infringement against a talent
Summary
COVER Corporation reported a settlement with a person identified as having posted rights-infringing content about an affiliated talent. The agreement includes an apology, ¥1.5 million in compensation for the post, and a ban on future defamation of COVER talents.
COVER Corporation announced that it identified an individual who infringed the rights of the company and one of its affiliated talents, and has reached a settlement with that person.
According to the notice, the individual made social-media posts naming the talent, including defamatory claims and baseless, invasive speculation about the talent’s private life. A court found that the talent’s rights had been infringed, and disclosure proceedings led to the poster’s identification.
The settlement includes a written apology, compensation of ¥1.5 million for the post in question, a commitment not to engage in defamatory conduct against any COVER talent, and a contractual penalty for any breach. COVER said it will continue to take legal action to protect an environment in which its talents can work safely, and plans to publish another update on its response to rights violations around October 2026.
